FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know before you try the mat.

Does it hurt?

The first 2–3 minutes are intense — similar to a deep tissue massage, but distributed across many points instead of concentrated in one spot. Most people find the intensity uncomfortable at first, then it transitions into a spreading warmth and sense of relief. If it feels too strong, wear a thin cotton shirt or start with just 5 minutes and build up gradually over a few sessions.

How is this different from acupuncture?

Acupuncture uses fine needles that penetrate the skin to stimulate pressure points. Acupressure achieves a similar effect by pressing firmly against the skin — no needles, no practitioner required, and you can do it from home anytime. The spike tips are precision-molded to apply pressure without piercing the skin.

How long should I use it each session?

20–30 minutes is ideal for a full session. You’ll feel the peak intensity in the first few minutes and then a sustained release for the remainder. If you’re short on time, even 10 minutes delivers noticeable tension relief. We recommend 20 minutes before bed as a starting routine.

How often should I use it?

Daily use is optimal, especially before sleep. Most people notice a meaningful difference in tension levels and sleep quality within the first week of regular use. Three to four sessions per week still delivers consistent results if daily isn’t possible.

Is it safe if I have back pain or an injury?

For general back tension, muscle soreness, and everyday stiffness, the mat is safe and effective. If you have a diagnosed spinal condition, herniated disc, osteoporosis, or recent injury, please consult your doctor before use. The mat is not a medical device and is not intended to treat or diagnose medical conditions.

Will the spikes scratch my skin?

No. The spike rosettes are precision-molded from ABS plastic with rounded tips designed to press, not pierce. You may notice temporary redness or small indentations on your skin after use — this is a normal response to increased blood circulation in the area and fades within 10–15 minutes.

Can I use it while pregnant?

We recommend consulting your doctor or midwife before using the mat during pregnancy. Some acupressure points are contraindicated during pregnancy and should not be stimulated without professional guidance.

How do I clean it?

Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, then air dry flat in a well-ventilated area. Do not machine wash or tumble dry — heat and agitation can warp the spike rosettes over time. Do not soak in water.

What’s the difference between the mat and the pillow?

The mat covers your full back and can also be used on legs, feet, and shoulders. The pillow is contoured specifically for your neck and the base of your skull — it cradles the natural cervical curve and applies targeted pressure to the areas where most people hold stress. They work best together but are also effective used independently.
